Hydrocortisone is a mild topical corticosteroid; like all corticosteroids, it has anti-inflammatory properties. Used under the guidance of a physician, hydrocortisone can be helpful in treating rashes, itching and redness.
At docent, hydrocortisone may be combined with hydroquinone and/or tretinoin to limit any discomfort while you become acclimated to these ingredients. While short-term, low-potency steroids are safe to use on the face, they should be avoided long-term; therefore, hydrocortisone will only be used for the first month's prescription.
